A timeline of dwarfism
1474- 1539, Italy~ dwarfs were still being sold, but they were given clothes and food to help them survive. Isabella d'Este gave some jobs as painters. Most dwarfs did not have jobs during this time, if they did have a job it would usually be in the entertainment industry.
18th century, Egypt- dwarfs were sold, and given to royalty to intertain them, but some dwarfs were offered the job of preist or courtiers because they were associated with the Gods Ptah, and Bes. Which helped increase there status in the social system.
1957- dwarfs founded LPA which stands for Little People of America
1960-Professor H.P.G. Seckel recognized the similarities between Caroline crachami and dwarfism. This became known as the Seckel Syndrome.
1963, France~ Pierre Maroteaux discovered the disease was coming from genetics. His discovery has been known as Lamy- Maroteaux-Syndrome.
1993-Freak The Mighty was published
2003- LPA opens up more jobs for dwarfs such as teachers, social workers, and engineers.
2004-LPA annual meetings have had an attendance record of 1800 people. Meeting have happened all across the world.
In recent months the company, Bio Martin offered a drug to the LPA that they said would stop dwarfism, but the LPA refused saying that dwarfism was apart of them that they did not want to give up.
